All students who study in Germany must have a health insurance. According to German law it is mandatory to have a health insurance for studying in a state-recognized university or college in order to qualify for enrollment. You will generally find public and private insurance covers and for students under the age of 30 and study no longer than 14 semesters the approximate charge for a public insurance cover will be 80 Euros per month. If you are over the age of 29 your monthly insurance premium increases to approximately 160-180 Euros and your only option is a private insurance cover.
